Box Score 2 (Clermont, Fla.) - The Lake Erie softball team split the fourth day of The Spring Games Thursday in Clermont, Fla. by falling to Wayne State (Mich.) 5-0 before defeating Bemidji St. 4-0.
GAME ONE: Wayne State 5, Lake Erie 0
Wayne State plated five runs in the bottom of the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning to rally for a 5-0 win over Lake Erie Thursday afternoon.=
Chloe Allen continued to produce at the plate for the Storm adding to her solid spring break performance. Allen, Alyssa Johnson, and Parker Viele all had a hit apiece but were unable to produce any runs.
Carly Roland got the start on the mound and faced 22 batters and only allowed five hits. Viele would pitch in relief facing five and allowing two hits.
GAME TWO: Lake Erie 4, Bemidji St. 0
Parker Viele went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Payton Brownlee went 1-for-2 with two runs.
The Storm scored their first runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning with back to back fielding errors allowed Allen and Brownlee to reach base. Leah Buck would single to the left side of the field giving Lake Erie a 2-0 lead. After two quick outs in the bottom of the fourth Cheyenne Hamel singled to right field and was drove in later in the inning on a ball lined to right-center from the bat of Johnson. Viele would get her second RBI in fifth driving in Brownlee giving the Storm their final run of the game.
Lake Erie is currently scheduled to finish the final day of The Spring Games Friday with matchups against Pitt-Johnstown and Kutztown.
