Storm Fall on Day One of Opening Weekend

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

(Westfield, Ind.) – Lake Erie softball dropped a pair of games in the Midwest Regional Crossover on Saturday on the opening day of the 2020 season by finals of 5-15 to Ferris State and 1-2 in eight innings to Bellarmine.

GAME ONE

Ferris St. scored four runs in the opening inning, and added seven in the second and four in the third inning during the first match of the day.

Lake Erie was unable to generate any momentum in the contest as the Storm were held to just 5 runs on 8 hits.

GAME TWO

After falling in game one, the Storm moved on to face Bellarmine University, in the second game of the day.

After a scoreless second inning from both sides, Lake Erie broke the game open with a one-run third inning. The one-run lead was enough for the Storm until the final inning when Bellarmine was able to score on a fielder's choice to send the game to extra innings. The Knights would go on to win after producing three hits and scoring on a single to left by Grace Werner.

Grace Hammer handled action on the mound for the Storm, pitching 7 2/3 innings in the circle, faced 35 batters, allowed two runs and thirteen hits. Hammer recorded four strikeouts in the loss. Lake Erie fell to 0-2 to start off the season at the Midwest Regional Crossover.
