Box Score (PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – It was a perfect home stand for Lake Erie as it capped off the 3-game slate with a dominant 104-82 victory against Tiffin on Saturday afternoon. The Storm (12-7, 6-3) eclipsed Thursday's season-best shooting percentage once again in doing so in the win against the Dragons (7-12, 1-8).
In total, Head Coach Kyle Conley's crew made 43 buckets (on 67 attempts) with a success rate of 64.2%, both new season-bests. When adding the totals from the games against Malone and Ohio Dominican, the Storm shot 60.1% (111 of 182) in the Osborne Center the last three games. This weekend alone saw the Storm tally 200 points.
Leading the charge this time was Jacob Plantz (Fr., Genoa, Ohio / Genoa) who blistered the bucket for a game-high 22 points. He was 8-for-12 overall and hit five 3-pointers, four of which came in the second half. Showing he could get the job done off the miss, Plantz also pulled down seven rebounds.
"I think we're sharing the ball really well lately. We're at the point of the season where everyone knows how everyone is playing," Plantz said in the locker room after the game. "Gabe's really expanded his game being to finish downhill and it's really opening it up for me and other guys to be able to shoot up 3-balls."
Three other Storm players also hit double figures as Gabe Kynard (Sr., Toledo, Ohio / St. John's) added 15, Jackson Burdyshaw (R-Jr., Perry, Ohio / Perry) scored 14, and Kevin Peterson (So., Cleveland, Ohio / Padua) followed with 11.
Kynard continued his impressive season as he went 6-for-11 and made three steals in limited time. Burdyshaw the most efficient shooter of the aforementioned quartet as he went 6-for-7 with a pair of triples.
It didn't take Lake Erie long to put the pedal to the metal as it found itself up 20 midway through the first half. At halftime the Storm was up by a comfortable 49-32 margin.
This is the second time Lake Erie has hit the century mark after it previously put up 100 at Edinboro at the beginning of December. It's the first time the Storm has scored 100 or more points twice in one season since the 2013-14 campaign when they did it in wins against Ohio Mid-Western and Northwood.
Tiffin was led by Jairus Stevens who scored 20 points off the bench. Jordan Wesley added 19.
The Storm now head on their longest conference road trip of the season with games at Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene. The Panthers are first up on the docket with a Thursday date in Owensboro. Tip-off is set for 8:45 p.m. EST.
