Box Score (PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Gabe Kynard surpassed the 1,500 point milestone and Kevin Peterson pulled down a double-double as Lake Erie cruised to a 94-48 victory over Ohio Valley on Saturday afternoon. The Storm (7-4, 2-1) dominated all facets of the game to remain unbeaten against the Fighting Scots (2-8, 0-3).
Kynard (Sr., Toledo, Ohio) shot 9-of-16 from the field to pull down a game-high 24 points. He was 3-for-6 from behind the arc, dished out five assists, and made three steals in 24 minutes of action. Kynard had 16 points at halftime alone.
Another trio of Storm players joined him in double-figures. Peterson (So., Cleveland, Ohio) added a career-high 19 and pulled down 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Kaleb Vaughn (RS-Sr., Toledo, Ohio) and Jacob Plantz (Fr., Genoa, Ohio) each added 10 apiece.
Aside from a strong offense that scored the second-most points in a game this season, a stout Storm defense held the opposition under 50 points for the second time this year. The Fighting Scots were forced into 26 turnovers which translated into 38 points. Lake Erie's depth also proved pivotal as the Storm bench outscored Ohio Valley's 31-11.
Lake Erie will be back in action on Monday as it hosts Alderson Broaddus. Tip-off with the Battlers is set for 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by the women's game at 7:30.
