Eastlake, Ohio - The Lake Erie College baseball team was in action today as they were swept by Kentucky Wesleyan.  The Storm fell in both games by a score of 8-4.

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first with three quick runs.  The Panthers tacked on a run in the second, and grabbed a 4-0 lead.  The Storm responded with a run in the bottom of the second inning.  The inning was led off with back to back singles by Ryan Carver (Orange Park, Fla. / Oakleaf) and Corbin Paxton (Sylvania, Ohio / Sylvania Northview) to put runners on first and second.  The next batter up Nigel Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio / La Salle) singled through the right side and plated Carver, to cut the Panthers lead to 4-1.   After a scoreless third and fourth inning the Panthers tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth took an 8-1 edge.  Lake Erie responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.  Trace Peterson (Medina, Ohio / Medina) led off the inning with a single to right field and was later driven in by a double from Carver.  The next batter up Paxton singled and plated Carver to cut the Panthers lead to 8-3.  After a scoreless seventh and eighth inning Lake Erie added a run in the bottom of the ninth when Caleb Waller (Vermilion, Ohio / Vermilion) doubled to left center field and plated Williams who singled earlier in the inning.  The Storm rally fell short, and Lake Erie lost, 8-4.

After the Panthers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the Storm responded when Peterson hit a solo homerun to centerfield to tie the game at 1-1.  After a scoreless second inning Wesleyan added a run in the third and grabbed a 2-1 advantage.  After three scoreless innings the Panthers tacked on six insurance runs in the top of the seventh.  The Storm scored a run in the bottom of the seventh when Samuel Browning (Cincinnati, Ohio / Archbishop McNicholas) came up with a pinch hit single to plate Waller.  Later in the inning the Storm loaded the bases and Wes Birchmeier (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) reached on a fielder's choice and drove in both Jacob Lozinski (Avon, Ohio / St. Edward's) and Rees Rua (Amherst, Ohio / Amherst Steele), but the Storm fell 8-4.

Lake Erie will return to the diamond Tuesday (April 3) when they travel to take on Cal. (Pa.), with first pitched scheduled for 1 p.m.
