Box Score 1 BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Lake Erie College softball team was in action today as they were swept by Ferris State. The Storm fell in game one, 3-2 and then fell in game two, 9-3.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead as they scratched across a run in the first inning. After a scoreless second inning Ferris State added a run in the third and took a 2-0 lead. The Storm tied the game in the top of the fifth when Elizabeth Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) hit a double to left center to plate both Savannah Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) and Kristin Peacock (Hebron, Ohio / Lakewood) who each singled earlier in the inning. Ferris State answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth to make the score, 3-2. The Bulldogs held on to win the game, 3-2.
Game two started with a scoreless first inning before the Bulldogs had an eight run second inning, to take an, 8-0 lead. The Storm cut into the Bulldogs lead in the fifth inning. Marissa Rizzo (Northfield Center, Ohio / Nordonia) had an infield single that drove in Jennifer Doershuk (Streesboro, Ohio / Kent Roosevelt). The next batter up S. Karako doubled to left field to plate both Kr. Peacock and Rizzo, to make the score, 8-3 in favor of Ferris State. The Bulldogs answered the Storm in the top of the seventh with a run, and held on to win game two, 9-3.
Lake Erie will return to the diamond on Friday (April 28) when they travel to take on Walsh, with the game set to start at 3:30 p.m.
