Box Score 1 PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College softball team was in action today as they fell in both games against Wayne State.
The Warriors jumped out to a quick lead with a run in the top of the first inning. The Warriors tacked on a pair of runs in the sixth inning and took a 3-0 lead. Allyson Deemer (Poland, Ohio / Poland Seminary) pitched a solid game. She cruised thru the middle of the game as she did not allow any runs in the second, third , fourth, or fifth innings. Deemer capped off her complete game with a perfect seventh inning, but the Storm fell, 3-0.
In game two, the Storm jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning when Elizabeth Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) doubled home Marissa Rizzo (Northfield Center, Ohio / Nordonia) who walked earlier in the inning. Wayne State responded with three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead. After a scoreless second inning the Storm added a run in the third and cut the Warriors lead to, 3-2 when Savannah Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) singled home Kristin Peacock (Hebron, Ohio / Lakewood) who singled earlier in the inning. The Warriors regained a two run lead with a run in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. The Storm was unable to muster a comeback and fell, 4-2.
Lake Erie will be back in action Tuesday (April 18) when they travel to take on Notre Dame College.
