CLERMONT, Fl. – The Lake Erie College softball team was in action today as they fell to both Kentucky Wesleyan and Michigan Dearborn. 

After a scoreless first inning the Panthers scored a pair of runs in the second and took a 2-0 lead.  Kentucky Wesleyan tacked on three runs in the third and took a 5-0 lead.  The Storm threatened in the third with back to back singles by Marissa Rizzo (Northfield Center, Ohio / Nordonia) and Kristin Peacock (Hebron, Ohio / Lakewood) but the Storm could not push them across the plate.  Lake Erie got on the board in the fourth when Allyson Hajnosz (Lordstown, Ohio / Lordstown) singled and advanced to second on a passed ball.  Hajnosz was driven in by a Darrian Yanek (Youngstown, Ohio / South Range) double to left center field, to make the score 5-1.  The Storm added a run in the fifth with a two out rally as Peacock doubled to right center field and was driven in by a Savannah Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) single.  The Panthers added a run in the top of the seventh and took a 6-2 lead, and beat the Storm 6-2. 

In game two, the Storm jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  S. Karako started the inning with a single and was moved to second on a single by Elizabeth Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic).  Hajnosz drove in S. Karako as she reached on an error.  Peacock drove in both E. Karako and Hajnosz with a double to the right center field fence.  Michigan Dearborn battled back with two runs in the first, to cut the Storm lead to 3-2.  Dearborn took the lead with a three run second inning.  The Storm tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the third when E. Karako hit a two run homerun.  Later in the inning the Storm took the lead when Peacock doubled and was later driven in by a Jennifer Doershuk (Streesboro, Ohio / Kent Roosevelt) single.  Dearborn responded in the bottom of the third with three runs and took an 8-6 lead.  Lake Erie drew within a run when Rizzo reached on an error and Doershuk came around to score, as she reached after being hit by a pitch earlier in the innning.  The Storm threatened in the top of the seventh but were unable to tie the game, and fell 8-7. 

The Storm offense was led by Peacock as she was 5-7 at the plate, including a trio of doubles.  Peacock had two rbi, and scored a pair of runs on the day. 

Lake Erie will return to the field tomorrow when they take on Gannon University and Calumet College with the games at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m respectively.
