Box Score 1 DETROIT- The Lake Erie College softball team was in action as they dropped a pair of games to 11th ranked Wayne St. University.
The Warriors opened the scoring with a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Warriors added two more runs in the fourth and then a run in the fifth and sixth inning. The Warriors won the game, 5-0. Allyson Deemer (Poland, Ohio / Poland Seminary) pitched a complete game for the Storm as allowed only three earned runs and had two strike outs. Offensively, Kate-Lynn Urgo (Vermillion, Ohio / Vermillion), Marissa Rizzo (Northfield Center, Ohio / Nordonia), and Savannah Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) had the hits for the Storm.
After a scoreless first inning in game two the Warriors scored twice in the second and took a 2-0 lead. The Storm responded in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at two runs apiece. The Storm scored in the fourth when Allyson Hajnosz (Lordstown, Ohio / Lordstown) hit a double to drive in S. Karako. The Storm tied the game when Urgo ripped a double down the left field line to drive in Lindsay Valvoda (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor). The Warriors regained the lead with three runs in the sixth. The Warriors maintained their lead and defeated the Storm, 5-2.
Lake Erie will wrap up their season tomorrow (April 23rd) as they travel to take on Saginaw Valley St. with the first game of the double header starting at 1 P.M.
