Box Score 1 PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College softball team was in action today as they dropped a pair of games to Ashland University.
The Storm and the Eagles battled through four scorless innings. Allyson Deemer (Poland, Ohio / Poland Seminary) was in the circle for the Storm as she threw four shutout innings, before the Eagles scored a run in the fifth. The Eagles held on to win the game 1-0. Deemer pitched a complete game as she only allowed one run on seven hits, and had a strikeout.
In game two, the Storm jumped out to an early lead in the first when Elizabeth Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) flew out to right and a bad throw home scored Marissa Rizzo (Northfield Center, Ohio / Nordonia) who reached base on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning. The Eagles responded with four run in the bottom of the first and took a 4-1 lead. Ashland tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second and took a 6-1 advantage. The Storm cut into the Eagles lead when Nicole Grimmett (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) grounded out to the pitcher but drove in Savannah Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic). The Eagles added two runs in the third and took an 8-2 lead. The Storm answered in the fifth when S. Karako singled to right and advanced to second on a passed ball. S. Karako was later driven in when Allyson Hajnosz (Lordstown, Ohio / Lordstown) singled to left. The Eagles maintained their lead and won 8-3.
Lake Erie will be back in action tomorrow (April 17th) as they host Clarion University on senior day with the first game of the doubleheader starting at 12 P.M.
