PAINESVILLE, Ohio –  The Lake Erie College football team concluded their 2015 season with a loss to Michigan Tech University, 63-23, Saturday (Nov. 14) in Painesville.

John Banyasz (Columbia Station, Ohio/Columbia) completed 19 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns.  His top target was Shane Van Fleteren (Shelby, Mich./Utica),who caught 10 passes for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  Aaron Lindgren (Willoughby, Ohio/Willoughby South) led the Storm with 75 rushing yards and a touchdown. 

Christian Cole (Waldorf, Md./McDonough) led the Storm defense with seven tackles.  Adam Mial (Beverly Hills, MIch./Detroit Country Day), Nick Iapaolo (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) and Maurice Hale (Columbus, Ohio/Beechcroft) had six tackles apiece.  Hale, Davon Daniels (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview) and DeVen Darby (Detroit Mich./Farmington Hills Harrison) had forced fumbles while Hale and Dylan Starks (Fremont, Ohio/Fremont Ross) had fumble recoveries.  Starks also had an interception.

Austin Baker (Clyde, Ohio/Clyde) averaged 46.4 yards per punt.

The Huskies opened the game with a seven play, 57-yard drive that culminated when Kevin Miler caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Cowie. 

The Storm responded on their second play from scrimmage when Aaron Lindgren took an option pitch for a 67-yard touchdown rush.  The Huskies regained the lead when Cowie rushed up the middle for a 27-yard TD rush, 14-7. 

Dontrael Brown (Maple Heights, Ohio/Maple Heights) gave the Storm great field position on the ensuing kick off, with a 64-yard return to the Huskies 30-yard line.  The Storm capped the drive with a 40-yard TD pass when Banyasz found Van Fleteren to make the score 14-13 with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter.  Michigan Tech took a 21-13 advantage with a six play, 73-yard touchdown drive that was capped by a 19-yard touchdown rush by Miller. 

The Huskies converted a key fourth down that allowed the drive to continue and ended with a fake field goal attempt on fourth down that the Storm was ready for and stop to force a turnover on downs.  Michigan Tech blocked the ensuing Lake Erie punt and returned it for a touchdown to give the Huskies a 28-13 lead with 7:06 remaining in the half.  Starks came up with the interception for the Storm, to give the offense the at their own 44-yard line.  Jonathan Bell (Waldorf, Mich./Westlake) took a reverse around the right end for a 17 yard rush to set up the Storm deep in Huskie territory.  The Storm settled for a 30-yard field goal by B.J. Rhodes (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) to bring the score to 28-16.  On the ensuing kick-off, James Henderson returned the kick 91 yards to give the Huskies a 35-16 lead at the half. 

The third quarter belonged to the Huskies, who outscored the Storm 21-0 off three rushing touchdowns.

The Storm got back on the board early in the fourth quarter when Banyasz found Van Fleteren in the corner on a fade route. 

The Huskies tacked on one more rushing touchdown at the end to seal the win.
