Box Score 2 NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Lake Erie was swept in Great Lakes intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday, losing both ends of a doubleheader to Saginaw Valley State (Mich.).
SVSU plated 14 runs in the second inning of an 18-4, five-inning win against LEC in the opener.
In the nightcap – another five-inning affair – the Cardinals posted crooked numbers in each of the first four innings of an eventual 20-4 win. SVSU managed 33 hits over nine half-innings on the day.
Darrian Yanek led LEC's offense on the day; she collected four hits and five runs batted in.
Saturday's twin bill was played at a neutral site due to inclement weather in Michigan.
The Storm (3-10, 0-2 GLIAC) are scheduled to play at Mercyhurst (Pa.) on Tuesday.
