Box Score

MARQUETTE, Mich.--The Lake Erie College men's basketball team dropped its second straight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match as they fell the Northern Michigan University 66-52 on Saturday (Jan. 5) on the road in Marquette, Mich.

The Wildcats led the Storm (3-9, 2-6 GLIAC) 28-16 going into the half. Junior Riley Thomas (Cardington, Ohio/Cardington-Lincoln) led the Storm with five points in the first half while junior Rich Austin grabbed five boards.

The Storm kept the game competitive in the second half with a 14-3 run, but were ultimately unable to overcome the Wildcats as the hosts went on a 13-3 run after LEC cut the lead to seven to pull away. Matthew Craggs led Northern Michigan (5-6, 2-5 GLIAC) with 14 points.

The Storm were hampered by their three-point shooting, which has been their bread and butter all year, going just three-of-16 (18.8%) from beyond the arch. Overall, the Storm shot 38% (19-of-50) from the floor.
Thomas finished the game with 17 points and three assists.  Austin added eight points while freshman Andy Bosley (Columbus, Ohio/Orange) scored seven points off the bench. Junior Tom Parker (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) had four steals in the game.
Four Wildcats scored in double figures- Craggs (14), Scooter Johnson (10), Quinten Calloway (10) and TJ Cameron (12).  Spencer Huss led Northern Michigan with a game-high seven rebounds.
The Storm forced the Wildcats to commit 19 turnovers while only turning the ball over 14 times themselves but the Northern Michigan bench had a 26-21 scoring edge.

The Storm return back to Ohio next Thursday (Jan. 10) at Malone University in Canton. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
