QUICK NOTES: Lake Erie will look to snap its season-opening four-game losing streak Saturday at nationally-ranked Ashland… the Storm is coming off a 51-24 setback to #17 Saginaw Valley State last week at home… despite the 0-4 start, Lake Erie has played well on the road to date, being outscored in two games by a total of seven points (36-33 loss at Gannon in Week 1, 35-31 loss at #19 Wayne State in Week 3) and led those games with just over one minute to go… in last week's loss to the Cardinals, redshirt freshman TE Anthony Kukwa (Perry/Ball State) caught five passes for 72 yards and a touchdown – his third straight game with a TD catch (team-leading 4 TD's overall)… senior QB Patrick Nicely (Willoughby/Akron) completed 17-of-33 passes for 249 yards and two TD's – all season highs – but was also intercepted twice… Freshman RB Brandon Phenix rushed for 76 yards and classmate Anthony Bilal (Riverside) had a 10-yard scoring run. That duo has combined for 560 yards (6.2 avg.) and six TDs in the first four games…. Freshman CB Aturo Morgan (Lakewood) made a career-high 13 tackles, including 11 solo stops, and tops the team with 22 unassisted tackles on the season…. Lake Erie defeated Ashland, 45-42, in the season finale a year ago in Painesville to tie the all-time series at 1-1.
UP NEXT: Lake Erie is on the road again next week, this time at Notre Dame College (Ohio) Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m.
