Box Score PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Two weeks ago, the Lake Erie College men's
basketball team scored the first 18 points and pulled out a
one-point home win over the University of Indianapolis. On Saturday
(Dec.19) the Storm scored the first basket of the day, but it would
be the last time LEC would lead as the Greyhounds hit 10
three-pointers in an 83-55 win.
The Storm (4-9) hit just two shots from behind the three-point
line in 17 attempts and shot just 41.4 percent overall in dropping
its third straight game.
Junior guard Antonio Kidd (Cleveland, Ohio/Lakewood) scored 13
points to lead Lake Erie while freshman center Garrick Sims
(Barberton, Ohio/Barberton) added 10. The pair combined to go
11-of-17 from the floor while the rest of the team was just
12-of-39.
Though the Storm only had that 2-0 lead, Lake Erie kept the game
close for a majority of the first half. Trailing by just three
points, 27-24, with 2:58 remaining in the opening half, the Storm
was outscored 11-4 heading into halftime.
The Greyhounds (5-3) extended the lead quickly to 18 with a 10-3
spurt to open the second half. Sims' jumper, which cut the lead to
16 at the 15:32 mark, was the closest the Storm would get the rest
of the way.
Darius Adams led Indianapolis with a game-high 21 points and
nine rebounds. The Greyhounds, who hit on 49% from the floor, had
three other players reach double figures and outrebounded the Storm
42-29.
Lake Erie returns home Monday night, Dec. 21, to host California
University (Pa.), at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and
Wellness Center. The game is the second game of a holiday hoops
doubleheader. The LEC women will play Notre Dame College at 5 p.m.
