Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Seton Hill University scored once in each
half and the Lake Erie women's soccer team could not connect on
five shots on goal in the Storm's 2-0 loss to the Griffins on
Thursday (Oct. 22) afternoon at Slattery Field.
The Griffins (5-11) scored in the 39th minute on a
goal from Deena Salameh, who redirected an Amber Mondock cross into
the right side of the net.
Lake Erie (6-9-2) played even with Seton Hill for much of the
game, as the Griffins held a small advantage in shots (12-10) and
shots on target (6-5). The Storm held a 7-6 advantage in corner
kicks.
Mondock's goal with just over three minutes left let all the air
out of the Storm's comeback attempts.
Lake Erie had a few solid opportunities throughout the game, but
was unable to capitalize against Seton Hill keeper Sam Gilarski,
who finished off the clean sheet, making four saves.
Valerie Urbanik (North Ridgeville, Ohio/North Ridgeville) took
four shots, including two on goal and another on a free kick that
sailed just over the crossbar late in the second half.
Chelsea Giesen (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley) matched her
counterpart with four saves.
The Storm will travel to Urbana on Sunday (Oct. 25) for its
final road game of the season. The match, the first of a
doubleheader with the men's team, will kick-off at 1 p.m
