Lake Erie College

North Canton, Ohio - The Lake Erie College volleyball team finished off a busy weekend, dropping a four-set match at Walsh University on Saturday afternoon. The Storm won the opening stanza 25-22, but the Cavaliers responded with 25-17, 25-18, and 25-21 wins. 

Allison Kirch (12) and Sadie Nawrocki (11) led the Storm attack with a combined 23 kills, while Ni'yah Fuggs and Nora Larson each contributed six in the setback. 

Bella Kessler and Cecelia Mullen registered 12 digs apiece, while Kennedy Stewart recorded a career-best five solo blocks to guide the defensive effort. 

The Storm controlled the opening set from start to finish, grabbing a 15-11 edge on back-to-back kills from Nawrocki and Larson. The Cavaliers tried for a late push with two consecutive points to make it 24-22, but a block from Stewart finished off the frame for the Storm. 

Unfortunately, the match would turn from there as Walsh was able to make multiple adjustments en route to three straight set wins. After hitting .324 in the first session, Lake Erie committed 23 errors over the final three sets, hitting no better than .152 in any of them. 

The loss dropped the Storm back to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in G-MAC play. 

Lake Erie has a busy week ahead as it opens a five-match homestand on Tuesday night against Ursuline College. The first serve is set for 6 p.m.
