Game Recap
After the first quarter came to a close, it was 8-0 Flyers, as they dominated time of possession thanks to an 18-2 groundball advantage, leading to just one Storm shot on goal. The second period was kinder to the visiting Storm, as all four of their shots were on target, with one sneaking through. Naythan Zurowski assisted Joey Ellison in the final minute before halftime, finally putting Lake Erie on the board. A Flyers goal before the buzzer sounded made it 13-1 at the break.
The home team scored three more goals quickly after halftime, but Naythan Zurowski added his second point of the night when he fired a strong shot with 10:36 remaining in the third. Three more Lewis goals pushed the score to 19-2 as the teams prepared for the final period.
After falling behind 23-2, the Storm rattled off three straight goals in a span of 100 seconds to end the game on a positive note. Naythan Zurowski once again found the back of the net, followed by sophomore Hilbert transfer Bryan Jastrzab, and then Billy Coughlin for good measure. Despite the score, the Storm played with heart all night.
Looking Ahead
Ranked fourth by the USILA Coaches Poll, Seton Hill presents a huge challenge for the Storm in their G-MAC opener. Last season, Lake Erie gave the Griffins their closest conference game of the year, a 13-5 result in the conference opener before Seton Hill finished conference play 12-0 and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Senior Nate Herbster and freshman Dexter Hannigan lead Seton Hill in scoring with five goals apiece. Will Cody has saved exactly two out of every three shots on target so far this season.
