Storm Win Rematch With Tiffin | Sweep Season Series

TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team began the first of four-straight road games today with a stop to face the Tiffin University Dragons. In their second meeting of the season, the Storm once again came away with a victory, this time defeating them by a score of 77-64.

Game Recap
The Dragons started the game with a 5-0 run but the Storm quickly locked in and took the lead with a three-point shot by Grace Lyon at the 8:05 mark. After this basket, Lake Erie would never give up the lead again.

The Dragons kept it close throughout the game though, tying it up three times in the second quarter and once in the third, but each time the Storm showed resiliency and quickly bounced back. In the fourth, the Storm lead continued to grow and proved to be out of reach for the Dragons who continued to foul which led to a convincing 77-64 win on the road.

Grace Lyon once again led with a team-high 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Kylie Maxwell led the defensive effort with 10 rebounds, a block, and two steals.

The Storm lived at the free-throw line today, attempting 39 shots from the charity stripe, their highest total in a game since February 13, 2021 against the Ursuline Arrows, when they also put up 39 attempts. Prior to that, their most recent comparable outing came on February 20, 2014 against Tiffin, when they went to the line 41 times. Freshman Sydney Shocklee benefited the most from the Dragons fouling, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the line.

Looking Ahead
Lake Erie will be back in action on Thursday, February 19th on the road to face the Thomas More Saints at 5:30 p.m.
