PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The
Lake Erie women's basketball team hosted the Ashland University Eagles tonight for another Great Midwest matchup at the Jerome T. Osborne Center. Despite holding the Eagles to their second-lowest single-game point total of the season, the Storm fell short 67-49.

Lake Erie struck first and jumped out to an early 5-2 lead against the Eagles, and held that lead for half of the first quarter.
Ashland battled back but the Storm kept the contest close. Before the end of the half, the Eagles would go on a run and held a 35-19 lead going into the locker room.
The momentum carried into the second half but Lake Erie surged towards the end of the third quarter to outscore Ashland, 17-14.
Despite the strong third quarter, the game would end in favor of the Eagles, 67-49.
The Storm were led by
Grace Lyon's team-leading 21 points (9-of-16) and 13 rebounds. As a team, they out-stole the Eagles 6-2 and dished out 13 assists.
Looking Ahead
Lake Erie will now begin a three-game road trip, starting with a matchup against the Ohio Dominican Panthers on Saturday, January 10th. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
