Storm Drop Home Contest to Kentucky Wesleyan

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team hosted the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers today for another Great Midwest matchup. After locking in a conference win on Saturday, the Storm fell to the Panthers, 70-46.

Game Recap
The Storm and Panthers went back and forth to begin the game. Throughout four lead changes, Lake Erie shot 33 percent from the field and knocked down two three pointers. With a three pointer by the Panthers to end the first, the Storm would hold just a one-point deficit against their 8-3 opponent.

In the second quarter, the Storm were not able to find a groove and were outscored 21-6, putting the halftime deficit at 37-21.

Despite a better third quarter and second half overall, the Panthers continued to pull away and the game end with a tough G-MAC loss at home for the Storm.

Fueled by a fantastic first-half performance, Grace Lyon led the team with 12 rebounds on the day while leading the team with nine points. Following right behind her was Kylie Maxwell who totaled 10 boards of her own. Backed by those two, the Storm out-rebounded Kentucky Wesleyan 44-34 in the contest.

Looking Ahead
Lake Erie will be back in action on Thursday, January 8th at home when they host the Ashland University Eagles. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
