PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team hosted the Thomas More Saints this afternoon in an exciting G-MAC contest at the Jerome T. Osborne Center. The Storm slowed down the Saints who currently sit atop the G-MAC standings and hold only two losses on the season but unfortunately would still fall, 82-77.
Game Recap
The Storm got off to a hot start, jumping out to a quick 6-2 lead. Each time the Saints would attempt to get in a rhythm, the Storm would answer and never surrendered the lead, holding a 22-16 edge at the end of the first quarter.
The Saints scratched their way back and took their first lead of the game halfway through the second quarter and ended it with short run to take a 33-30 advantage going into the locker room.
The Storm had a strong second half offensively, scoring 23 points in the third quarter and 24 in the fourth. After going down by as much as 15 points at one point, Lake Erie buckled down in the fourth and trimmed the deficit to as little as three points at one point and ultimately fell by just five points in the end.
Grace Lyon had a career game for Lake Erie, putting up career-highs in points (25), rebounds (14) and steals (5) in the loss while also adding two blocks.
Looking Ahead
Lake Erie will be back in action on Thursday, January 25th at home to host the Cedarville Yellow Jackets. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
