Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Battles UIndy For Second Straight Tie

PAINESVILE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team hosted the UIndy Greyhounds for their second contest of the 2025 season. After a hard-fought battle between both sides, the game would result in a 0-0 tie. The Storm begin the season with a record of 0-0-2.

Game Recap

It was a fairly uneventful first half for both sides as neither one presented much of an edge against the other. Seven combined shots were taken in the half with the Storm holding a slight 4-3 advantage.

The second half began with a similar story but with about 18 minutes remaining the Storm started putting it together and controlled the ball in UIndy's territory for virtually eight straight minutes. They would take three shots during that time but were unable to get any of them to go in. By the end of regulation, the two sides would finish with a scoreless draw.

Veljko Radovanovic and Dario Stadler led the team with two shots taken apiece and goalkeeper David Ruiz Ospina recorded three saves in the shutout.

Both sides earned two yellow cards with Luka Bekovic and Ido Omaysi earning them for the Storm.

The Matchup

Today's meeting marked the first time that the two sides have faced off in Painesville. Prior meetings were held at Indianapolis (2023, 2024), Columbus (2022, 2023), and Geneva, Ohio in 2019 during the second round of the NCAA DII tournament. Last season, the Storm defeated UIndy 1-0 for their first program win against the Greyhounds. After today's contest the Storm are now 1-3-2 all-time.

Looking Ahead

The Storm will be back in action on Wednesday, September 10 on the road to face Salem University in Salem, West Virginia. The game is set for 2:30 p.m.
