Storm Secure First G-MAC Win in Four-Set Victory Against Arrows

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The Lake Erie Volleyball continued G-MAC play on the road against the Walsh Cavaliers. The Storm would take the first two sets, but the Arrows would breakthrough in the third set. The Storm would comfortably take the fourth set to secure first G-MAC win of the season.

Set 1: After a quick exchange between teams, the Storm would go ahead 7-3 after kills from Gabrielle Jones and Jasmine Heyward, and a solo block from Lexi Stooksbury. Lake Erie would keep the momentum going, growing their lead to 14-6 after multiple errors from the Arrows, and kills from Stooksbury and Allison Kirch. The Storm kept their foot on the pedal, pushing their lead to 21-10 after kills from Jones and Heyward, and an ace from Kirch. Lake Erie would close out the set 25-13 with a block from Jones and Rori Hanken, a kill from Stooksbury, and an ace from Paige Jestadt.  
 
Set 2: The Storm would race out to an early 6-2 lead with a block from Jones and Kennady Wiley and a kill from Heyward. Lake Erie would push ahead, growing their lead to 16-10 after kills from Hanken, Kirch, and Stooksbury. The Arrows would cut the gap to 20-17, but the Storm would take the next two points with kills from Kirch and Sadie Nawrocki. Lake Erie would close out the set 25-22. 
 
Set 3: The Storm continued the second set momentum, jumping out to an early 5-1 lead with kills from Wiley and Nora Larson. The Arrows would find their footing in the set and take a 11-10 lead. Lake Erie would then take three of the next four points for a 13-12 lead with kills from Larson and Nawrocki, and a block from Wiley and Sophia McKenzie. Ursuline would then push ahead 20-16. After the Storm would take the next two points, the Arrows would take the next five points for the set at 25-18.
 
Set 4: The Arrows would continue momentum from the third set to take an early 5-2 lead. The Storm would strike going ahead 9-7 after three errors and a Wiley kill. Lake Erie would continue their race to the finish, going ahead 17-9 with kills from Kirch and Stooksbury, a block from Larson and Wiley, and an ace from Wiley. Ursuline would not go away, taking five of the next six points, cutting the deficit to 18-14. The Storm would take the next seven points to close out the match 25-14 with a block from Hanken and Jones, a kill from Jones, and two aces from Jestadt.

Lake Erie returns home for five straight G-MAC matches with the first coming against Ohio Dominican University on Tuesday, September 30th at 6 p.m. 
 
Ohio Dominican is currently 7-3 overall and 2-0 in G-MAC play to begin the season, with wins against Hillsdale and Northwood on the road to open conference play. In 2024, the Arrows finished 15-16 and 8-6 in the G-MAC, along with a trip to the G-MAC championship game. In the 2025 preseason poll, the Panthers were picked to finish 2nd in the G-MAC South division.
