COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team traveled to Ohio's capital tonight for another G-MAC matchup, and their first conference road contest of the season. The Storm didn't miss a beat and they defeated the Panthers 3-0. Their record now improves to 2-0-4 on the season and 2-0 in G-MAC play.
Game Recap
The game got off to an exciting start for the Storm. In just the 10th minute they made their first substitution, putting in
Ido Omaysi and 26 second later, he put the Storm on the board with an assist from
Lucas Howe.
That score held for the remainder of the first half and halfway into the second before the Storm knocked in another goal in the 71st minute, this time by
Jack Bole who was assisted by
Glory Hser and
Gabriele Argint.
But the Storm weren't done yet, just three minutes later Veljkko Radovanovic put the nail in the coffin with an assist by Bole, securing a 3-0 victory for Lake Erie.
It was a game completely controlled by the Storm. They out shot the Panthers 11-5, and 4-1 with shots on goal.
Luka Bekovic and
Nicolas Vagujhelyi led the team with two shots a piece.
The Matchup
In a matchup that has historically been very back-and-forth, the Storm have now won four in a row against Ohio Dominican and six of the last eight. With their recent success, the Storm continue to creep up on a .500 all-time record against the Panthers. Currently, Lake Erie is 13-17-2.
Looking Ahead
The Storm will be back in action on Thursday, September 25th a home against the Malone Pioneers. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
