PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team hosted the Walsh University Cavaliers for their first G-MAC contest of the season. The Storm played close with the Cavaliers in the first half and mounted a comeback in the fourth but they fell just short, 71-56.

The Storm played Walsh close in the first, scoring 13 points but only allowing 15. They took the lead midway through after a three pointer by
Kylie Maxwell and held that lead for two minutes.
They began the second by tying the game at 15 on a layup by
Megan Mares, and took a 18-17 lead on a free throw by
Nina Shaffer and then extended it to 20-17 after two free throws by
Riley Montagner.
Walsh took the lead for good in the quarter with 2:47 remaining and the halftime score settled at 35-27 in their favor.
The third quarter got away from the Storm and they were unable to keep up with the Cavaliers, falling at home to open up G-MAC competition.
Montagner and
Emma Fouch led the team with 11 points each, with Fouch going 3-for-4 from deep and adding five rebounds to her stat line.
Kylie Maxwell once again led on the defensive end with nine rebounds and three blocks in addition to two steals.Â

The Storm will be back in action on Saturday, December 6th on the road against Hillsdale at 1:00 p.m.
