PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team hosted the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks today for a non-conference game and their final home game of the calendar year. The Storm looked sharp and cruised to a 87-60 victory.
Game Recap
The Redhawks found a rhythm early, jumping out to a 17-14 lead in the first quarter while the Storm tried to find their own rhythm on offense.
The second quarter saw them find that grove as they hit 36.8 percent from the field and an impressive 40 percent from deep, giving them a 36-31 lead at half.
In a quarter that has often been a slow one this season, Lake Erie came out firing in the third. They shot an astounding 57.9 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from deep, scoring a season-high 31 points in the quarter and taking a commanding 67-47 lead.
The Storm kept that groove going in the fourth and finished the game with a great win.
Riley Montagner led the team with 17 points, including five baskets from deep, while
Emma Fouch followed closely behind her with 12 points of her own, all of them coming from beyond the arc.
On the defensive end, Kyle Maxwell led the way again, this time with career-highs in rebounds (13) and blocks (4) while adding nine points as well.
The Matchup
With the win, Lake Erie now leads all-time in meetings against the Redhawks, with a record of 5-4 owning back-to-back wins.
Looking Ahead
The Storm will be back in action on Sunday, December, 21st on the road to face the D'Youville Saints with tip-off scheduled for 2 p.m.
