Storm Close Out Regular Season With Shutout of Northwood

PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie men's soccer team hosted the Northwood Timberwolves for their final regular season game of the year. The Storm were dominant and came out on top, 2-0. They finish the regular season with a record of 5-5-8 and 5-5-4 in G-MAC play.

Game Recap

The Storm, coming off of a tough 3-2 loss to Findlay, came into this contest ready to get back on track before competing in the G-MAC tournament at the end of the week.

In the 8th minute, a rough penalty in the box set up Dario Stadler for a penalty kick to take an early 1-0 lead.

Lake Erie extended their lead in the 22nd minute after Stadler fired a pass from the right side of the net which found Cal Babiash who knocked it in to put the Storm up 2-0.

That lead would hold the rest of the way despite a few close shot attempts in the second half by the Storm.

As a team, the Storm had 21 shots compared to Northwood's seven. Stadler led the team with five total shots and Lucas Howe and Florian Senf each had three in the game. Goalkeeper David Ruiz Ospina would record two saves in the win while earning his sixth shutout of the season.

Looking Ahead

The Storm will await to see who they face off in the first round of the G-MAC Tournament. They will be on the road.
