CLARION, Pennsylvania – The Lake Erie women's basketball team traveled today to face the Clarion University Golden Eagles in their second non-conference game of the season. It was a game of streaks and the Storm would end up falling, 88-71.
 

Game Recap

The game started with the Golden Eagles finding a groove early and taking a 12-2 lead. The Storm buckled down after that and brought the deficit down to just a 13-12.

The quarter ended with another run for Clarion but in the second, the Storm kept pace and chiseled their way back, and took a 41-40 lead going into the locker room after a Sophie Chipps three-pointer to close out the half.

Clarion regained the lead early in the third and the Storm found themselves playing catch-up the remainder of the way, falling in a tough non-conference match.

Grace Lyon led the team with 15 points (7-of-14) seven rebounds, and two blocks. Sophie Chipps finished right behind her with 13 points and five rebounds of her own while leading the team in assists with four.

The Matchup

The Storm are now 3-2 in all-time meetings with the Golden Eagles. They won their first three matchups in 2014-15, 2018-19, and 2022-23.

Looking Ahead

Lake Erie will now head down south to Lakeland, Florida to compete in the Mocs Thanksgiving Classic where they will face Florida Southern on Friday, November 28th and Lynn University of Sunday, November 29th.
