Storm Slowed Down in Straight Sets Against Timberwolves

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie volleyball team hosted the Northwood Timberwolves as the clocks were turned back. The Storm would show fight, but the Timberwolves would win in straight sets.

Set 1: This set would see a theme of streaks for each team. The Storm would start by opening the game with three straight points with kills from Jasmine Heyward and Kennady Wiley, each assisted by Jenna Sayles. The Timberwolves would answer right back with five straight points to move ahead 5-3. Lake Erie would then take the next four points with kills from Sadie Nawrocki, each assisted by Cecelia Mullen, a block from Wiley and Nawrocki, and an ace from Heyward, retaking the lead 7-5. Northwood would begin to grab momentum, moving ahead 15-11. The Timberwolves would then pull away, taking nine of the next 10 points for a 24-13 lead. The Storm would then take the next four points with kills from Nawrocki and Nora Larson, but Northwood would take the set 25-17.   
 
Set 2: The Storm would open a 7-5 lead with a kill and block from Gabrielle Jones. The Timberwolves would take the lead at 14-10. Lake Erie would cut their deficit to 14-13 with two kills from Jones. The Storm would take a 20-18 lead with kills from Jones, Allison Kirch, and Lexi Stooksbury. Northwood would then take the next three points, retaking the lead 21-20. After two Timberwolves attack errors, the Timberwolves would take the next four points and the set 25-22.    
 
Set 3: The Timberwolves continued their momentum from the second set moving ahead 7-2. Northwood would continue building their lead to 22-10. The Storm would take four of the next five points, cutting their deficit to 23-14 with kills from Jones and Sophia McKenzie. The Timberwolves would close out the set 25-14.

Looking Ahead
 
Lake Erie will head down to Canton to face off against Malone University on Tuesday, November 4th at 7 p.m.  
 
Malone is currently 6-16 overall and 5-6 in G-MAC play this season. Recently, the Pioneers took two straight sets losses at home against Findlay and Tiffin. In the 2025 preseason poll, Malone was picked to finish 4th in the G-MAC East division.
