PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie Volleyball continued their homestand against the Ashland Eagles. The Storm showed toughness and grit by taking the second set in extra points, but Ashland would grind out a four-set victory.

Set 1: The Storm would step ahead quickly with a 6-2 lead with a kill from
Gabrielle Jones, and a block from Jones and
Rori Hanken. The Eagles would quickly erase their deficit and go ahead 18-11. Lake Erie would cut their deficit to 21-16 after kills from Hanken and
Nora Larson. Ashland would take the set 25-18.
Set 2: The Eagles would continue their momentum from set one to early 5-2 lead. The Storm quickly erased the deficit to tie it at 5 highlighted with a block from
Ni'yah Fuggs. Lake Erie would move ahead 9-8 after two kills from
Sadie Nawrocki and an ace from
Paige Jestadt. Ashland would move ahead 12-10 before Lake Erie would tie it at 12. The Eagles would then go on a 6-0 run to go ahead 18-12. The Storm would grind it out to tie the set at 21 with five kills from Fuggs and three kills from
Jasmine Heyward. Ashland would take three of the next five points to go ahead 24-22. Lake Erie would force extra points and take the set 27-25 with kills from Nawrocki,
Allison Kirch, and
Kennady Wiley, and an ace from Nawrocki.
Set 3: After the teams would exchange points to begin the set, the Eagles would pull ahead 13-10. Ashland would continue to pull away, bringing the score to 18-12. Three straight kills from Heyward would cut the Storm deficit to 18-15. The Eagles would close out the set with seven straight points for a score of 25-15.
Set 4: The Eagles would fly out to an early 5-0 lead and grow it to 12-3. The Storm would take five of the next six points to cut their deficit to 13-8 with kills from Fuggs and Kirch, and an ace from
Kylie Anderson. Lake Erie would bring the score to 14-13 after kills from Nawrocki and Wiley. The Eagles would grow their lead back to 20-15. The Storm would bring their deficit back to one at 21-10 with kills from Kirch and Fuggs. Ashland would take the next two points in the set with the score now at 23-20. Lake Erie would take the next two points bringing the score to 23-22 with a kill from Anderson and a block from Nawrocki and
Kennedy Stewart. The Eagles would muster out the next two points, taking the set 25-22.

Lake Erie continues their time at home with a battle against Walsh University on Saturday, October 4th at 4 p.m.
Walsh is currently 10-3 overall and 4-0 in G-MAC play to begin the season. Recently, the Eagles took a five-set victory at home against Clarion, who made the NCAA tournament last season, and a straight set victory at Ursuline.
