Storm Fall to Hillsdale on the Road

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Lake Erie football team took to the road today to face the Hillsdale College Chargers in another Great Midwest matchup. Despite a strong defensive effort in the second half, the Storm would fall, 35-10.

Game Recap

Lake Erie began the game on offense and ate up a ton of time off the clock, putting together an 11-play, 52-yard drive that lasted 6:57. The drive ended on a turnover though and the Chargers took a 7-0 lead on the offensive series that followed.

Hillsdale extended the lead to 21-0 on their next two series but during a Chargers drive at the LEC33, quarterback Colin McKernan was sacked by Jordan Baker and the ball popped out. Jalen Joyce pounced on it and returned it 52 yards for the Storm's first score of the day, cutting into the Charger's lead, 21-7.

The Chargers subsequently took the next kickoff back to the house to extend their lead to 28-10 and they scored once more in the half to take a 35-10 lead into the locker room.

Coming out of the half, neither team's offense was able to do much. Both teams failed to score and the final remained 35-10.

Keyshawn Johnson led the Storm with 48 receiving yards and five receptions. On defense, Kemari Ward had a team-high 10 tackles, two tackles for loss and one QB hurry.

Looking Ahead
The Storm will be back in action on Saturday, November 1st on the road against Ohio Dominican with kickoff scheduled at 12 p.m.
