Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lake Erie Suffers Loss to Kentucky Wesleyan at Home

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team hosted the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers for their first home game of the new year. They were unable to keep pace with the Panthers, and fell 85-55. They now fall to 3-8 on the season and are still searching for their first G-MAC win.

Game Recap

The game began with the Storm putting up a spirited fight in the first quarter. Though they trailed 19-11, they displayed flashes of potential, with key players stepping up to keep the game within reach.

In the second quarter, the Storm continued to battle against the Panthers' relentless offense. While the Panthers added 23 points, the Storm's grit was evident as they worked to find scoring opportunities, contributing 13 points to their tally. At halftime, the Storm faced a 42-24 deficit but remained focused on making adjustments.

The third quarter presented challenges, as the Panthers extended their lead with a strong offensive surge. However, the Storm refused to back down, adding 17 points of their own and showing moments of excellent teamwork and hustle. Their determination shone through, even as the scoreboard tilted further in favor of the Panthers, 71-41, heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Storm matched the Panthers point-for-point, with both teams scoring 14. The Storm's ability to compete evenly in the closing moments reflected their never-quit attitude and their efforts to play until the final buzzer.

Kennadi Harris led the way for Lake Erie with a team-high 14 points and six rebounds. Anna Ibos had a very effective shooting night, scoring 11 points on 3-of-7 shooting, including 1-of-3 from deep and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

The Matchup

The Storm remain winless all-time against the Panthers, now dropping to 0-12. They will have a chance to snap that streak on February 24th when they travel to Owensboro.

Looking Ahead

Lake Erie will be back in action on Saturday, January 11th for their final non-conference match of the season. They will face Slippery Rock in a game that was rescheduled from November 30th. The Storm will resume G-MAC play on Thursday, January 16th at home against the Thomas More Saints. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
