Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Storm Surge In Fourth Quarter | Narrowly Fall to Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pennsylvania -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team traveled to face Slippery Rock University for their final non-conference match of the season. The Storm surged in the fourth quarter but fell just short, 60-57. They now fall to 3-9 on the season.

Game Recap

The Storm kept pace with the Rock to begin the game, and showed early on that they came to play. In the second, Lake Erie had one of their better quarters of the season. They shot 47.4 percent and outscored The Rock 22-16, taking a 33-28 lead into the half.

Coming out of the locker room though, they came out flat. Scoring just six points and surrendering 20, falling into a 48-39 hole.

Lake Erie kept persevering though. They fought hard and about halfway through the fourth quarter Kennadi Harris knocked down a big three, trimming Slippery Rock's lead to just four. After trading a few baskets, Harris hit another huge three to bring the team within one and Anna Ibos hit a shot to take a 53-52 lead with 2:20 remaining.

Slippery Rock took the lead back after that and the Storm stayed close but they ultimately fell 60-57.

Harris and Lilee Carlson led the team with 14 points each with Harris also contributing six assists and two steals and Carlson grabbing eight rebounds.

Today's game marked the first time since December 12, 2009 that the two sides have faced off. Today's loss gives the Storm their first loss to Slippery Rock in just their third meeting. Lake Erie leads with a 2-1 all-time advantage.
