FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team took to the road today to take on the University of Findlay Oilers. In a shocking second half, the Storm would fall 3-0 and drop their record to 4-3 on the year and 3-1 in G-MAC play.
Game Recap
As expected, these two sides played a tight battle to begin the game. The Storm managed to get five shots off in the first half but Findlay's Keegan Grant would record four saves to keep them off the board.
In the second half, the tide started to shift. During the 55th minute, Findlay finally broke through and took a 1-0 lead. The game remained tight after that but the Oilers broke through again in the 81st minute and then again in the 86th to stun the Storm for their first G-MAC loss of the season.
Aaron Garrote led Lake Erie with four shots with four on goal while
Biel Font contributed three of his own with three on goal.
The Matchup
Today's loss snapped an impressive eight-game win streak for Lake Erie against Findlay with their last loss coming on September 8, 2018 at home. All-time, the Storm still lead with a 16-10-2 record. They will get their chance at redemption on November 2nd at home when the Storm celebrate Senior Night.
Looking Ahead
Lake Erie's next game will conclude their non-conference competition when they travel to Buffalo, New York to take on the D'Youville Saints on Wednesday, October 2nd at 4 p.m. They will continue conference play on Saturday October 5th on the road against Cedarville.
