Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Storm Fall to Davenport, 2-1

CALEDONIA, Michigan – The Lake Erie men's soccer team competed in a non-conference matchup today against the Davenport University Panthers. The Storm took an early lead but were unable to hold back Davenport, falling 2-1. The loss now puts their record to 3-2 on the year with their conference record remaining at 2-0.

Game Recap

Lake Erie got off to a fantastic start to begin their Sunday afternoon matchup. In just the 10th minute, Luke Peperak found the back of the net for the second time this week to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.

Fourteen minutes later though, Davenport got a goal of their own and tied it right back up which would remain the score going into the second half.

In the second half, the Panthers kept Jasper Rump busy. He gathered all seven of his saves in the half but unfortunately, in the 74th minute, Davenport knocked one in to take a 2-1 lead.

Lake Erie was only able to get off one more unsuccessful shot in the remaining minutes to drop their second non-conference game of the season.

As a team, the Storm had 10 shots but just two were on goal. Davenport took 19 themselves with nine on goal.

The Matchup

Today's meeting marked just the second time that the two sides have met. Their first meeting was in 2019 when the Storm came away with a 2-1 victory. Like today's matchup, the Storm goalkeeper, Tom John, also racked up an impressive amount of saves (8).

Looking Ahead

Lake Erie will be back in action on Thursday, September 26th at home against the Ashland Eagles.
