Storm Shutout Arrows Breaking Records in Conference Win

CHESTERLAND, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team traveled to Ursuline College to face the Arrows for another regular season G-MAC game. The Storm dominated the game from start to finish, scoring 18 unanswered goals. Numerous Storm athletes put numbers on the board to help aid the big win. Lake Erie advances to a 2-4 conference record and are 6-9 overall. 

The first quarter gave the Storm an early 6-0 lead, with goals from Reese Friesen, Broke McNeal (2), Madelyn Goodrich, Cynthia Saxby, and Emma Rhoades. The Storm matched these goals in the second period, scoring six more. Mea Lally, McNeal, Goodrich, Amelia Shirk, Erin Snyder, and Kiya Smith all helped Lake Erie increase their lead to 12-0 going into the half.

The second half was led by Lally, Vanessa Krix, and Megan Schanz as they all scored a goal. The last period was finished up by Corinne Shimek and Vanessa Krix (2) scoring three goals to end the game with an 18-0 win. 

Brooke McNeal and Vanessa Krix led the team in goals with three each, with both causing a turnover. Lally and Goodrich followed with two goals each, and four ground balls from Goodrich.

Shannon Smith finished with seven caused turnovers, matching her single game record and breaking the single-season caused turnovers with 33 for the year. Smith also picked up seven ground balls. 

The team set a record for single game caused turnovers, with 31 for the day. Lake Erie is now one win away from achieving 100 wins for the program's history. 

Avery Artino started in the net for the Storm, followed by Bethany Kirkwood for the second half of the game. 

The Storm look to their final game of the regular season on Wednesday, April 17th as they host the Thomas More Saints at 1:00 PM.
