Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Goodrich Leads Storm With Five Goals in Win Against Griffins

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team traveled to Chestnut Hill to take on the Griffins for another non-conference game to start off the season. The Storm would dominate the game from start to finish, scoring four goals in each quarter except the last, with a final goal in the fourth to make the score 13-4. This ties up Lake Erie's record at 3-3.

Brooke McNeal was quick to start the game off for the Storm with two unassisted goals within the 11 minute mark. Madelyn Goodrich quickly followed with another goal, to which the Griffins could only respond with one goal. Corinne Shimek finished up the first with a goal from Erin Snyder

The Storm was not shy to keep their lead strong in the second. Shannon Smith scored early on from Emma Rhoades, followed by another goal from Goodrich, a goal from Cynthia Saxby (from Reese Friesen), and Rhoades for one from Mea Lally. Going into the half, the Storm was up 8-1.

Chestnut Hill had an early goal in the third to try and combat the Storm's dominating offense. This goal was quickly matched by Goodrich, who would score three times in the third. Smith recorded her second goal of the game to send the Storm into the last quarter up 12-2.

The last quarter had a bit of a fight from the Griffins as they scored two goals, but nothing was enough to stop the Storm. Reese Friesen had a goal early on to lead the Storm with a 14-3 finish.

Goodrich led the game with five gals, three ground balls, and a caused turnover. McNeal was behind with two goals and a caused turnover. Lally picked up four ground balls and an assist. Bethany Kirkwood was in the goal for the Storm all 60 minutes, recoding three saves.

Lake Erie returns to their home turf for the next non-conference game against the Colorado State Pueblo Thunderwolves, set at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 11th.
