Women's Lacrosse Cruise Past Crusaders in Home Win

PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse hosted the Madonna Crusaders for another non-conference match-up. The Storm would take control early in the first quarter and finish out the game with several achievements from Storm athletes. The final score was a dominating 18-4, improving their record to 2-3. 

Lake Erie started the match off with an unassisted goal from Erin Snyder. This first goal would set the tone for the quarter, with the Storm scoring five goals to which the Crusaders could not respond. The Storm upped their game in the second quarter, scoring six goals. Madonna fought back with one goal, but Lake Erie held the 11-1 lead going into the half. Quarter three ended with three goals for the Storm, and one for Madonna. A small spark from the Crusaders tried to bring things back with two goals, but the Storm shut it down with four goals to make the final score 18-4. 

Madelyn Goodrich led the Storm in offense with five goals, only two short of her career high. Goodrich also picked up five ground balls to match Brooke McNeal's five ground balls. McNeal achieved her career high of three goals for the night, along with Reese Friesen who also achieved her career high. Mea Lally, Vanessa Krix, and Amelia Shirk each recorded their first goal for the Storm. Shannon Smith picked up four ground balls and a goal for the night. 

Bethany Kirkwood was in the goal all 60 minutes for the Storm, picking up a save. 

The Storm look to their next game against the Chestnut Hill Griffins on the road on Friday, March 8th at 1:00 PM.
