Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Late Comeback from Storm Not Enough to Take Down Senators

ELKINS, West Virginia — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team traveled to Davis & Elkins College to take on the Senators for another non-conference match to start off the season. A strong third quarter would tighten the score to put the Storm only two goals behind, yet the Senators were able to close out the game without a response from Lake Erie. The final score was 6-10, moving the Storm's record to 1-3.

Davis and Elkins took control of the match early on with five goals in the first period. Brooke McNeal was able to find the back of the net for the Storm's first goal of the day, unassisted. Down 5-1 going into the second period, the Storm was looking to comeback. The second period was quiet from both sides, with neither team scoring a goal.

The third period is what brought the Storm back into the game. McNeal put away two more goals along with Erin Snyder and Madelyn Goodrich each for one, to make it 5-7 Storm down by two. The last period was crucial for each side of the field, yet the Senators were able to put up three goals to Lake Erie's one from Shannon Smith. Strong efforts could not pull the Storm ahead, finishing with a score of 6-10.

McNeal led the Storm with three goals for the day, recording her career high for goals and shots (6). McNeal also caused four turnovers, picked up two ground balls, and recorded an assist. Reese Friesen led the Storm in ground balls with three, along with an assist.

Avery Artino was in the net for the Storm, recording a career high of 13 saves.

The Storm look to their next game against the Madonna Crusaders at home on March 5th at 7:00 PM.
