PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team hosted the Davenport Panthers for their home opener on Tuesday, February 27th. The Storm scored early goals to keep up with the Panthers, yet Davenport took control with a large lead. Lake Erie was unable to come back, with a final score of 7-20. This moves the Storm to a 1-2 overall record.
The Panthers scored the first goal of the game early on, to which Reese Friesen responded with a goal for the Storm. Unfortunately quick, strong offense allowed Davenport to score continuous goals to take a 4-1 lead. Goals from Madelyn Goodrich, Cynthia Saxby, Brooke McNeal, and Erin Snyder fought for the Storm, yet Davenport was able to outscore Lake Erie each period.
Goodrich led the Storm with three goals, one assist, and one ground ball. Mea Lally picked up four ground balls. Avery Artino was in the goal for Lake Erie, recording five saves.
The Storm head to Davis & Elkins on Saturday, March 2nd to take on the Senators at 1:00 PM.
