TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball battled the Tiffin University Dragons on Saturday, Feb. 24 to continue Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. A strong first half by the Storm would lead them to a 61-54 win. This win improves the Storms record to 3-22 (2-17 G-MAC).
The Storm were able to get off to a strong start on both ends of the court. After a close first quarter, the Storm were able to create separation from the Dragons when they went on a 13-0 run. The Storms defense held the Dragons to just four points in the second quarter, making the score 30-12 at half.Â
However, the Dragons continued to fight. Despite being down 18 at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Dragons would go on a 17-2 run to bring them within five points. With under two minutes left, they closed the gap to just two points, however a clutch Grace Lyon three-point shot allowed the Storm to secure the win.Â
The Storm had three players in double figures. Grace Lyon would lead the Storm with a team high of 21 points and eight rebounds. She also had a block and a steal. Sophie Chipps added 13 points, six rebounds and two assists. She led the Storm in steals with three. Anna Ibos had 12 points, along with four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
The Storm will be back in action at home for their final game of the 2023-2024 season on Thursday, Feb. 29 where they will be battling the Walsh University Cavaliers. Tip off will be at 5:30 p.m.
