Women's Basketball Struggle on the Road Against Timberwolves

MIDLAND, Michigan – The Lake Erie women's basketball team traveled to Midland, Michigan to take on the Northwood University Timberwolves this Wednesday, Feb. 21 for another Great Midwest Athletic Conference match-up.  The Storms offense would struggle early on, resulting in a 76-43 loss. This loss brings their record to 2-21 (1-16 G-MAC).

The Storms defense struggled to contain the Timberwolves offense in the first half. The Timberwolves shot an impressive 7-of-11 (63.6%) from the three point stripe in the first quarter to help their offense total a 27 point start. The Storms offense was no match as they were only able to score six points in the second quarter. The Storm would improve in the third quarter, as they were able to outscore the Timberwolves by two, however they were unable to complete the comeback. 

The Storm were led by Alexis Lehmkul who had nine points off of 4-of-8 (50%) shooting, as well as five rebounds and an assist. Lehmekul also led the defensive efforts with a team high of four blocks. Kylie Maxwell had a team and career high of 11 rebounds for the Storm. She also had four points, along with a steal and a block.

The Storm will be playing their final road game in Tiffin, Ohio when they will take on the Tiffin University Dragons. This game will take place on Saturday, Feb 24 at 1 p.m.
