CHARLESTON, West Virginia — The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team started off their 2024 season at the University of Charleston to face the Golden Eagles. Despite a close comeback from the Storm in the third period, the Golden Eagles took over the game to win 14-6. This puts Lake Erie at an 0-1 record to start things off.
The Storm was led by first year Brook McNeal, who recorded her first three career goals. Shannon Smith, Cynthia Saxby, and Madelyn Goodrich each recorded a goal for the Storm. Goodrich, first year Mea Lally, and goalie Avery Artino all picked up five ground balls. Erin Snyder finished with three assists.
Artino was in the goal for the Storm, and picked up ten saves. Freshman Bethany Kirkwood took over the net for her first collegiate appearance, picking up her first save.
The Storm look to their next game against West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, February 18th at 1:00 PM.
