PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball competed against the Hillsdale College Charges at home on Saturday Feb. 10 in search for their first G-MAC win. Despite the close game at halftime, a strong second half by the Chargers would result in a 69-52 loss for the Storm. This loss brings the Storms record to 1-20 (0-15 G-MAC).
The first quarter started off slow for both teams as the offense struggled to find their groove. The Storm found themselves down by eight at the half. Although the Storm were able to shoot 8-of-16 (50%) in the fourth quarter, the Chargers lead was too much to overcome. The Storm struggled from the three-point stripe as they only made 3-of-22 (13.6%) of their shots.
The Storm were led by freshman Sophie Chipps who had a team high of 17 points and five assists. She shot 6-of-12 (50%) from the field and also had a steal and a rebound. Senior Alexis Lehmkuhl had a career high of nine rebounds. She also had nine points along with a steal, an assist, and a block.
The Storm will be back on their home court on Thursday, Feb. 15 to battle the Ohio Dominican University Panthers for another G-MAC match-up. Tip off will be at 7:30 p.m.
