Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Early Surge Results in a Tie With The Oilers

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie men's soccer team hosted the University of Findlay Oilers tonight for senior night. The Storm tied with the Oilers 2-2 and now bring their record to 8-7-2 overall and 7-5-1 in G-MAC play.

Game Recap
The Storm took the field looking for a bounceback win after getting stunned 3-0 by the Oilers earlier in the season.\

In the first half, Lake Erie wasted no time, scoring in just the first minute of play when Linus Oestlund found Luke Peperak for his eighth goal of the season. The Oiler defense tightened up, but the Storm struck again in the 20th minute, this time when Jack Bole found Oestlund. The game remained scoreless the rest of the half, and in the second, the Oilers started to come back.

Findlay came out of the gate looking like a whole new team. They got on the board in just the 47th minute, and six minutes later, they found the back of the net once more to knot the game at two.

After the Oilers shocking comeback, the Storm settled down and locked back in. They mitigated scoring advances and got off a few scoring opportunities of their own. Ultimately neither team would score again, and the two sides drew a 2-2 tie.

The Matchup
The Storm get back on track with a nice showing against Tiffin Thursday and a tie with Findlay tonight. They now have a 16-10-3 all-time record over the Oilers, including an 8-1-1 record in their last 10.

Looking Ahead
Lake Erie will conclude their regular season on Wednesday, November 6th, on the road against the Ohio Dominican Panthers. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.. In their last meeting this season, the Storm took home a 3-1 victory.

With the tie, the Storm now fall into sixth place in the G-MAC standings. If the standings were to remain the same, Lake Erie will be looking at a first-round matchup against the Ashland Eagles in the Great Midwest Tournament.
