Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Yellow Jackets Score With Six Second Left To Defeat the Storm

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team traveled today to face the Cedarville Yellow Jackets in another G-MAC competition. After a tough battle all game, the Storm fell 1-0 on a late goal. They now fall to 4-4-1 on the year and 3-2 in G-MAC play.

Game Recap

With a few healthy pieces back in their rotation, the Storm seemed to play better but the results were not there. They out-shot Cedarville 11-6 but broke even with just three shots on goal each.

Throughout the game it felt like, eventually, Lake Erie would find a way to pull it all together and come away with a victory. With time winding down though in the game, it appeared as if the match would end in a tie.

However, with time expiring, Benjamin Carman broke free, won a one-on-one battle and scored just 12 yards out with six seconds remaining in the game to stun the Storm on the road.

Luke Peperak led the team with three shots while Angel Murillo following just behind with two shots of his own including one on goal.

The Matchup

The loss now brings the all-time record between to the two teams to 4-6-3 in favor of the Yellow Jackets. Lake Erie has not fared well on the road either, going 1-3-2 compared to 3-3-1 at home. Since 2021, Lake Erie does hold the advantage though, with a record of 3-1-2.

Looking Ahead

The Storm will look to right the ship on Thursday, October 10th at home against the Thomas More University Saints at 1 p.m.. Lake Erie has never lost to the Saints in their short history together, holding a 2-0-1 record.
