NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- The Lake Erie volleyball team went back on the road, stepping back into G-MAC play as they faced the Walsh Cavaliers. The Storm would take the second set, but the Cavaliers would take a comfortable four-set victory. Lake Erie is now 3-7 in the G-MAC and 6-16 overall.
Game Recap
The first set would begin with teams exchanging points. With an 8-8 tie, Lake Erie would be the first team to pull ahead by taking the next three points with a kill from senior
Alexandra Matthews and two Walsh attack errors to take an 11-8 lead. The Cavaliers would grab their first lead of the set at 14-13 after multiple Cavaliers kills. Walsh would take control in the set by taking a 22-17 lead. Kills from junior
Jasmine Heyward, Matthews, and freshman
Allison Kirch would not be enough as the Cavaliers would take the first set by a score of 25-19.
The second set would see the Storm jump out an early 5-1 lead after kills from senior
Anna Lewis, sophomore
Diamond Baker, and Kirch, and a solo block by Baker. The Cavaliers would halt the momentum by taking the next five points to take a 6-5 lead. Walsh would continue to grow their lead to 15-11. Lake Erie would continue to hang tough in the set by tying the set at 18-18 after kills from redshirt freshman
Rori Hanken, Baker, senior
Katelyn McMoore, and Lewis, and a solo block from Lewis. The Cavaliers would take the next three points to take a 21-18 lead. The Storm would the second set by taking seven of the next eight points with five kills from McMoore winning by a score of 25-22.
The third set would see Walsh race out to an early 6-1 lead after multiple Lake Erie miscues. The Cavaliers would grab firm control in the set by taking a 16-4 lead. The Storm would cut the lead to 16-8 after taking four straight points on a Walsh service error, two attack errors, and a kill from Hanken. The Cavaliers would close out the third set by taking nine of the last 10 points to win the set by a score of 25-9.
The fourth set would see Walsh continue their momentum from the third set by grabbing an early 10-2 lead. Two kills from Heyward and an ace from senior
Brooklyn Broadway would cut the Cavaliers lead to 12-8. Walsh would grow their lead by to 15-10 after Lake Erie miscues. The Cavaliers would take 10 of the next 11 points to take the fourth set by a score of 25-11.
The Storm offense was led by Heyward, who would post a career-high 10 kills. Senior
Simone Schurr would lead the team with 20 assists with senior
Sarah Leyden also having nine. The Storm defense was led by Baker, who would have three blocks, and Broadway would lead the team with 18 digs.
The Matchup
With the loss, Walsh sweeps season series against Lake Erie, and Lake Erie has now lost 10 consecutive matches to Walsh with the last Lake Erie win coming in 2018.

Lake Erie will return home to continue G-MAC play as they welcome Malone University on Saturday, October 26th at 1 p.m.
