Redemption! Men's Soccer Takes Down Cedarville in Mentor

MENTOR, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team hosted the Cedarville Yellow Jackets today at Mentor High School for another Great Midwest matchup. The Storm scored early and came away with a 1-0 victory. The win brings their record to 7-5-1 on the year and 6-3 in G-MAC play.

Game Recap
Lake Erie was looking for redemption today after their last meeting with Cedarville resulted in a very tough, last second loss.

The Storm offense came out of the gate aggressive and attempted their first shot in just the first minute and then put another shot up in the fifth. With Luke Peperak making his return to the lineup today, he made his presence known early on and found the back of net in the eighth minute to give Lake Erie an early 1-0 lead and the momentum.

The Lake Erie defense was lights out and held the Yellow Jackets to just two shots in the first half and another two shots in the second. The defense was able to hold and the Storm walked away with a much needed redemption win.

Jason LaVacca got his first career start for the Storm in goal and he earned himself a shutout victory while recording two saves.

The Storm offense attempted eight shots in the game and six on goal with Furlong recording three and Peperak notching two himself.

The Matchup
Historically, the two sides have been pretty even, but recently it has been the Storm who have dominated. Overall, the Yellow Jackets still hold the advantage with a 6-5-3 record against the Storm but in their last seven meetings, Lake Erie has a 4-1-2 record.

Looking Ahead
The Storm will be back in action, Thursday, October 24th at Mentor High School to face the Northwood Timberwolves. The game is set for 4 p.m.
