Men's Soccer Routes Malone for Back-to-Back Wins

CANTON, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team continued their season today with a road matchup against the Malone University Pioneers. The Storm took care of business and handed the Pioneers a 3-1 loss. They now improve their record to 6-4-1 on the year and 5-2 in conference play.

Game Recap
Both teams came out of the gate playing hard. Five combined fouls were committed within the first 15 minutes of play before Malone found a hole in the Storm defense and knocked one in for a 1-0 lead.

From there, the game continued to be chippy and right after a Skyler Landgraf yellow card, Lake Erie found a way to tie it up in the 29th minute when Luke Peperak took a surprising shot about 35 yards out and placed it perfectly in the top right corner of the net.

Just a minute later, Daniel Hernandez found Randolf Rothe to give Lake Erie the lead and Cal Babiash put a bow on in it in the 87th minute to send the Storm home with a 3-1 victory.

Despite scoring three goals, Lake Erie had just four shots in the game compared to Malone's 11. 34 fouls were committed between the two sides in addition to seven yellow cards and one red card by Peperak in the 89th minute.

The Matchup
Lake Erie continued their winning ways against the Pioneers, extending their streak to nine games in a row. They now hold a 16-6-1 record all-time against Malone and a 10-2 record under head coach Louie Rolko.

Looking Ahead
The Storm will look to make it three in a row next week on Thursday, October 17th on the road against Kentucky Wesleyan with an 8:30 p.m. ET start time.
